At Markmi, as a Customer Success Engineer, you partner with a Customer Success Manager who handles business relationships while you focus on technical expertise, troubleshooting, and guidance. Deep technical work with direct customer impact!

In 2024 we released Markmi, a pricing platform for fashion retail that enables merchandising teams to make smarter, faster, and more profitable pricing (markdown) decisions.

By leveraging fashion-focused intelligence and advanced forecasting, Markmi enables teams to set optimal price markdowns that swiftly respond to market shifts, protect margins, and drive revenue, all without relying on outdated spreadsheets or generic tools. Our algorithms, trained specifically on fashion data, empower retailers to reduce manual workload, gain better control over the markdown process, and achieve superior sales outcomes. Markmi demonstrates that with the right tool, fashion teams can confidently use price markdowns as a powerful asset to drive growth.

As a Customer Success Engineer, your mission is to ensure that customers are onboarded smoothly, supported effectively, and able to use our platform with confidence. You'll be the technical expert partnering with our Customer Success Manager, advising enterprise clients on technical best practices, troubleshooting complex issues, and running SQL/data investigations to resolve customer-reported problems. You'll also help build repeatable processes and clear documentation to strengthen our support capabilities and make the customer experience more scalable.

This is a hands-on, mostly post-sales technical role, ideal for someone who enjoys working with data, solving problems, and engaging directly with enterprise clients on technical matters.

You will work side by side with our Customer Success Manager, Product Manager and Engineering team. Together, you will ensure that issues are resolved quickly and insights flow back into development.

Job requirements

🎯 The Role

Primary (Post-Sales Technical Support):

  • Act as the technical partner of the Customer Success Manager to provide high-quality post-sales support.

  • Act as the first line of technical escalation, investigating customer-reported issues by running SQL queries and analyzing underlying data.

  • Guide technical onboarding for new customers: validating ingested data, giving user training sessions, and ensuring a smooth path to the first price optimization runs.

  • Act as a pricing optimization expert and trusted advisor, guiding customers on how AI-driven pricing can be applied to improve business performance.

  • Build and maintain a knowledge base of SQL snippets and internal tools to improve the efficiency of our support process.

  • Feed back insights and recurring technical issues into the product roadmap via the Product Manager.

Secondary (Pre-Sales Support):

  • Support the GTM team with technical expertise during pre-sales, including customer demos and showcasing best practices.

🧠 What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • Strong SQL skills; comfortable working with relational databases.

  • 2+ years of experience in a technical support, customer success engineering, or data analytics role.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a pragmatic mindset.

  • Excellent communication skills: able to explain technical findings to non-technical business stakeholders.

  • Ability to take ownership of customer issues and follow through until resolution.

  • Comfortable in a dynamic SaaS startup environment with high-touch enterprise clients.

Bonus:

  • Experience with data onboarding, ETL processes, or data validation.

  • Scripting ability in Python to automate recurring tasks.

  • Familiarity with BI tools or data visualization.

  • Experience working in retail, fashion, or pricing-related industries.

  • Exposure to customer success in a SaaS company.
